About the ministry
“…they will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.” — Isaiah 61:3
Our story
The ministry of Oaks of Righteousness began in 2020, born out of a growing need for the Tarahumara youth to receive an education. We desired to replace the cycle of oppression, drugs, depression, abuse and feelings of worthlessness with the hope, value and purpose found only in Jesus. Our first school began in Campo 107, near Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua, with eight students, focusing on skills like mechanics, cooking, and guitar. As the need for academic teaching grew, we began registering students and providing an education leading to a Mexican certificate, and in 2024 we opened the school to younger children.
The school has grown from eight students in 2020 to 16 in 2023 and 48 in 2025, and the 2025–2026 school year is the third in which our students can obtain a certificate through their education. In December 2024, our dream of owning our own school building became a reality when we purchased a property in Campo 118. God has been so good to us — so incredibly faithful. We give Him all the praise and glory for the work of this ministry.
Our mission
The ministry of Oaks of Righteousness exists to serve the Tarahumara people and those who would otherwise not receive an education. Our mission is to meet these individuals where they are at and encourage them to learn and grow both academically and spiritually. Oaks of Righteousness School equips students to live a meaningful life where they can contribute to society in a positive way: economically, morally, socially and spiritually. We are a place where all individuals can come to understand grace and forgiveness in an environment of godly discipline, patience and love; a place where people feel safe and free to become the person God wants them to become; a place that will fuel their desire to come to know Jesus Christ personally and experience healing from the Great Healer.
Our vision
The vision of Oaks of Righteousness is to support and transform the lives of children, teens, and their families through the good news of the gospel. We strive to make students and their families aware of a better way of living, through Jesus Christ; dealing with the generational struggles of self worth, anger issues, abuse, drugs, alcohol, unhealthy relationships, etc., with God's love. Proverbs 22:6 is our vision and prayer for each of the children that we work together with.
