School

At the current time, our main focus of ministry is our school. Its purpose is simple — to change the hearts and lives of the Tarahumara children through the power, love and salvation that only Jesus Christ can give. By educating these children, spending time with them each school day, sharing God's truth from the Bible, and loving them as Jesus loves, we aim to replace the cycle of oppression with the hope, value and purpose Jesus gives — and education gives students both the means to a hopeful future and the ability to read God's word for themselves.

We call the ministry a “school,” but it is much more of a home. Students begin their day shortly before 9 am and leave at 2 pm, Monday through Friday. They are taught Math, Spanish, Science, Social Studies, Physical Education, Art, Music, Computer, and most importantly, about the Bible. The older students also take part in a guidance class, where they learn about health, hygiene, and safe and healthy relationships — and everyone is encouraged to step out of their comfort zone through dramas, singing, and serving people in the community.
