Amanda in Mexico: June/July Update

Hello from Mexico! I hope this newsletter finds you well! The past 2 months flew by and I can hardly believe we are in August already. I returned from the mountains on June 22nd as we wrapped up our time with the beautiful children of Rosanachi. I look back on my 10 months in the mountains and I am so grateful God gave me the opportunity to live there. God taught me so much about His character; His deep, unconditional love for me; and His desire for every person to know Him personally.

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

Psalms 46:10

In June, we had the opportunity to visit Ana Cristina’s grandparents, who live in a different village. Ana had been praying for them for a while, asking God to open a door to share the gospel with them. While there, Ana had the opportunity to answer some of their questions about God and encourage them to listen to the audio Bible she gave them in the Tarahumara language. They were very encouraged and invited us to come back whenever we could. We also handed out more handheld radios with the audio Bible, Christian songs and testimonies on them. People were happy to receive them!

We were so blessed to have a wonderful, young lady come and help us in the mountains for 3 weeks. I got to know this girl years back when I was working in the orphanage. She has since graduated high school and is attending Bible School. I was so proud to watch her serve in the mission field and love on these children, just as she had received!

After wrapping up our school year in the mountains, we made our way into the village of Corarayvo. We have been going their annually, since 2020, to do a VBS with the children of that community. The kids had a lot of fun, as SuperGirl joined us this year! We were also so blessed to have a young man from Canada join us on this trip! The little boys absolutely loved the male attention and it was a wonderful example for the youth of the community that there is so much more opportunity out there for them. God opened the doors for many wonderful conversations with the people about God and the Bible.

My sister and I returned to Canada to visit our family and friends. We were greatly encouraged by people back home! It was a very busy time, as my sister and brother in law made the move to Mexico. At the same time, though, I was blessed by friends who shared what the Lord has done in their lives, invited us for game nights or just stopped to talk. I feel so blessed for the wonderful support team God has given me back home and I know I couldn’t be here without all of your prayers and support. Thank you so much!

Hebrews 10:24

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.

We were very excited for Sandra, the young lady that graduated from our school a year ago, as she graduated from YWAM this past June! She will be coming back to the school to help us with the new children entering the school for youth. It will be very interesting to work with her as a fellow staff instead of a student. We are so excited to see what God has in store for her!

Praise and  Prayer:

  • Praise God for a successful VBS in the mountains.

  • Praise God for the time we were able to spend in Canada and a safe arrival back to Mexico.

  • Pray for the villages of Corarayvo and Rosanachi, that God would continue to work in the lives touched by the gospel.

  • Pray for Ana Cristina as she prepares for the next school year that she is taking over now.

  • Pray for Sandra as she will be teaching at our school this year.

  • Pray for the upcoming school year here in Cuauhtemoc, that God would send the students and help we will need.

God bless!!

Amanda.
