For Valentine's Day we celebrated by going to a park, writing valentines cards and just spending time together. We cooked hotdogs by the lake and the kids filled my phone with tons of pictures and selfies. I love seeing how the simplest things bring my students so much joy. They absolutely loved writing the valentines cards and took it so seriously, trying to express how much they appreciated each other. They were so excited to open the cards to see what their friends wrote. I pray one day they will get that excited to open the Love Letter God wrote them in the Bible.
This month we also went to a church to present the drama we have been practicing for 2 months. The kids were so nervous and excited. I was so proud of them as I watched them lead the singing with the songs they had prepared beforehand. Although so many things seemed to go wrong, I couldn't even be upset, because all I could see was the significance of these Tarahumara children going waaaaay out of their comfort zone to present the gospel to their own people. God is so good and I have no doubt He is using these things to reveal Himself to the Tarahumara people.
1 Corinthians 1:27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.
It is so easy to want everything to be perfect. Sometimes I struggle when I so much want something to be perfect, just as I imagined it, and it turns out so 'wrong' or different. I love how God loves to use the humble, foolish, and small things to create something so beautiful, better than I could ever imagined.
1 Corinthians 2:9 However, as it is written: "What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived"— the things God has prepared for those who love him.
