Amanda in Mexico: November & December Update

Hello from Mexico.  I hope this newsletter finds you well! Just like that, we are nearing Christmas...again! Every year seems to go by faster and faster. Once again, we end the year off with another wedding as my youngest sister got married on December 13th. School continues to become busier as numbers have grown since last year.  We officially entered vacation, ending the year with class parties and a field day.

November started off with Child and Family services inviting us to participate in a community service of Dentists coming to work on the teeth of people who wouldn't otherwise be able to see a dentist. So 45 of our children went to the dentist. Many tears were shed and teeth pulled, filled and cleaned . We are so thankful for the opportunity to partake in this community service, as most of our children have never seen a dentist.

In November, we also celebrated Mexican Revolution Day and ladies from a local church came to make the students a special meal. This was very special to the kids! I am so thankful for all the people in the community that take the time to come visit and interact with the students. It is a great encouragement to all of us! Sadly, in November, my uncle in Texas passed away. This was difficult as we had been praying for his recovery,  but God had other plans.  I was able to go to the funeral and it was wonderful to see our team of teachers that were able to manage the school for that week. God continues to teach me to trust him, even when it's hard to understand what He's doing,  but I know He is working.

We ended November off with a parent-teacher meeting. It was wonderful to see most of the parents come out and show interest in their child's education.  It is truly incredible to see how much the parents have changed since we started school back in 2017. Getting some parents to a Christmas concert was like pulling teeth. The children would be so embarrassed to present in front of their parents as they would laugh and make fun of their children for acting as a Biblical characters in the Christmas play.  They didn't understand it was a story, rather, they saw it a a game. Now many of our parents anxiously await any reason to come to school and see their child perform. It's beautiful to see all the cameras out and the WhatsApp statuses filled with the students' performances. This past week we had our annual Christmas concert and, once again, just about all the parents came to watch the children. The parents are much more open to the gospel then they were 8 years ago because they have seen Him through the patient, loving and faithful hardwork of the Christians that have poured into their children.  We praise God for every opportunity and for all the people that have been such a great part of this ministry, whether through prayer, donations, visits or finances.  Thank you!

Praise & Prayer

Praise God for all He is doing in the families of our students

Praise God for the successful past 3 months and for this time to re-energize this vacation

Pray for our teachers living situation,  as the house they were renting has been sold. We are currently in the process  of building 2 rooms on the school yard.  Pray for the finances to finish building

Pray for all our students that are now in vacation,  that God will keep them safe

Thank you! Once again,  if you would ever like to come visit and see the ministry, we would LOVE to host you! God bless! Amanda
