March Newsletter

Hello from Mexico!! I hope you had a wonderful Easter season as we celebrated Jesus’ victory over death and how He paid the ultimate price to redeem us from slavery to sin. We truly serve an Awesome God!!
These past few weeks have flown by so fast and it is hard to believe we are already in April. In the mountains, we ended off February on a sad note as an elderly man I have shared about in a past newsletter lost his life. The villagers were observing a traditional sacrifice / ritual, which came to an end with his death. We were deeply saddened, as he had been opening to the gospel and we had been praying for his salvation. God alone knows what happened in the last moments of his life. The whole village was shaken by the accident, and for some, they have been seeking hope through this tragedy. Please pray for wisdom and strength as we share the hope we have in Jesus with the villagers.

In March, Amelia and the school she runs here in Cuauhtémoc, came to visit us in the mountains. It was so exciting that all the students showed up. What a blessing to have familiar faces come and see what God’s doing in the mountains and to love on the children we love so much. The children absolutely love having visitors, as they get showered with so much attention and love.  Seeing our students in the mountains enjoy the little things, like holding hands with an adult or playing cat and mouse with our visitors, brings me back to 2017 when we began the school Amelia is running now. It brings me such joy to see those first students now giving out that love they once craved just as deeply as these children in the mountains. I see confident, compassionate, joyful young men and women serving others and it is hard to believe they, too, were once so shy and reserved. It is so amazing to see how God can transforms lives!
In the middle of March, one of the villagers came to ask me if I could teach him and his brother English. I was very excited to accept the opportunity, as it is another way to build relationships with the family and share God’s love with them. We have been doing 3 English classes a week and it’s truly been a joy to see the boys so eager to learn. Who knew studying English could be that enjoyable? It makes me smile to see how hard they laugh as they try to pronounce these new words and make these new sounds, such as the “th” and “r”. I am truly impressed how determined they are to learn! Which brings me to Ana’s sister. She and I have been doing reading classes twice a week and I love to see her excitement that she can read now. She is often reading labels and writing out new words in her free time. I take the ability to read so for granted sometimes… I don’t realize how limited we are without the ability to read. Praise God for the opportunity I had to receive an education as a child.
Lastly, I want to share I came to Cuauhtémoc for Easter vacation and it’s been such a neat time of rest and spending time with friends/family. I’ve very much enjoyed doing some gardening on my yard and getting to know our wonderful interns better. We are truly so blessed to have them here, serving in the ministry with us! The highlight of the vacation so far though, was on Easter Sunday, when Sandra’s little sister accepted Jesus as her Savior. I am so excited to see what the Lord has planned for her life! Please keep her in your prayers.
Praise & Prayer Items:
  • Praise God for the young girl that accepted Christ this past week.
  • Praise God for His protection and provision in the ministry.
  • Pray for God’s provision in a permanent building for the ministry, as the one we are currently in is temporary.
  • Pray for the salvation of many and that people would feel God’s love through the ministry.
  • Pray for Amelia and the school as they are going to Sonora on a mission’s trip this Sunday.
Thank you so much for your prayers and support. We are so blessed to work alongside you to see many people hear the gospel and find freedom in Jesus Christ! If you would ever like to come to visit, feel free to communicate with us. We would love to have you! God bless!!
