Amanda in Mexico: October

Hello! I’m sending greetings from Guachochi, Chihuahua, Mexico. It is the closest ‘city' from where I am currently serving in the mountains. It is also the place where there is internet service. Guachochi is about 1 hour drive from Rosanachi, where I am serving.

I want to start off by saying thank you for all your prayers!! It is truly a blessing to know people are fighting alongside us in this spiritual battle from so many different places.

We were introduced to a missionary here in Guachochi and she has kindly invited us to stay at her house for night when we are in the area. This is exciting because we will be attending church with her…. Not being able to attend church has been one of the difficulties of living in the mountains, as there are no Christians in the area yet; and to take the car isn’t really an option as the roads are very, very rough on the vehicle. We try to keep our outings minimal.

In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership with the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

Philippians 1:4-6

The school is continuing and the children are very much enjoying it. It is such a joy to see the kids recognizing the letters and associatjng them with the sounds. They are also learning their numbers and they are quickly catching on. I love to see the smiles of the kids as they arrive at school, they so much look forward to Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays so they can go to school again.
We were very blessed to have the 3 interns who came to serve at the ministry in cuauhtemoc, come visit us here in the mountains for a week. I was unsure if they would enjoy the mountains, as the way of life can be physically exhausting. I was so impressed as they did great! They loved on the kids, helped Ana’s parents weed a field, and did a whole lot of hiking. We were truly blessed and the kids were sad to see them leave.
This past week I had the opportunity to see the ministry back in Cuauhtemoc, as Amelia asked me if I could help out for a few days. It was such a blessing to see the interns teach their classes and a great joy to see the kids again. Please keep them in your prayers.

Lastly I want to share with you some praise andprayer requests that we would love to have you join us in praying.

  • Praise God for the interns that are helping in the ministry back in Cuauhtemoc. Pray for wisdom, strength and joy for them as they invest in the teens.

  • Pray for this new ministry in the mountains, especially for Ana Cristina as she is learning how to run this ministry so she can take over.

  • Pray for the Lord’s provision for this ministry, that He would provide for Ana’s spiritual, emotional and physical needs in the ministry, as the plan is for me to return to Cuauhtemoc in about a year.

  • Please pray for wisdom and guidance as I train Ana, that Jesus will be who speaks through me and be her greatest example.

  • Pray for the children that come to the school, that they and their families would all come to know Jesus.

  • Please pray for Ana’s family, that they would see Jesus through us and get a desire to know Him!

Thank you so much for your prayers! For more information or to support, you can go to Sixteen13ministry.ca and find the ministry under “Missionaries” and then click on “Mexico”.

Also I want to apologize for the lack of pictures. I was having trouble with the internet connection. I hope to be able to add more next time!

Thank you so much! God bless! Amanda
